OT from MacFUSE: the cause of the problem with the LaCie drive may be one of many, and results of the problem may include errors/symptoms other than -47. In my own case, I discovered (Google is our friend) that a replacement mains power adapter brought new life to a LaCie unit that intermittently failed to spin up its two drives.
