As of 10.6, OS X no longer supports the creation of, or the writing to, HFS formatted volumes. This is a real pain if you are trying to do any legacy/retrocomputing or just want to play old games (Spectre VR).
I am curious if there is any interest in the MacFUSE community, for the creation of a plugin that would allow writing to HFS formatted volumes. I have absolutely no idea how to do it myself, so I am hoping that some very smart and talented individuals will take it upon themselves. Keeping my figures crossed.
