Sorry to have bothered you. Chrome is the only thing I put on my system
recently that I thought might be doing it. Others are a stitching program
(which I have deleted) and Tech Tool Pro (which I also have deleted). TTP
puts some "watch" software on the system and doesn't seem to do anything
useful so it is gone.

I use a MacPro for high-end digital imaging and, despite a half hour with
Apple tech support I got a full freeze and our only choice was to pull the
plug. Couldn't even do a hard restart. This is really rare. Tech guy said he
had never had to do it.

So thank you. I have calmed down. I just have never (~30 years of Macs) seen
anything like this.

I don't have anything on your list and am now back in business with no
noticeable problems.
