Yes.

Credit for getting MacFUSE to run on 64 bit kernels belongs to Erik Larsson. 
MacPorts had nothing to do with that. MacPorts has some "patches" but they are 
basically renaming some folders, that's all.

Correct, but Google transferred it back. We are where we started in the first 
place, locked out.

There are still several "unofficial" projects at GitHub. There are some 
concerns about continuing work under the name MacFUSE (since we don't have 
access to the google project) or renaming the project to have a fresh and clean 
start. The name MacFUSE is highly associated with Google.

I'm confident there will be a new official version, just give it some more time.
