MacPorts had nothing to do with that. There are still several "unofficial" projects at GitHub. There are some concerns about continuing work under the name MacFUSE (since we don't have access to the google project) or renaming the project to have a fresh and clean start. The name MacFUSE is highly associated with Google. I'm confident there will be a new official version, just give it some more time.
