I don't know for sure but my G4 Powerbook's drive went out and the
repair guy at MacTown (now MacAuthority) told me I couldn't use a drive
larger than 160GB (the G4 wouldn't recognize more than 160GB) and it had
to be an ATA drive, not a SATA drive. 

I would verify this with someone who might know for sure.
