Hi Dan, I currently have all of them hooked in by USB directly to the computer. I had thought about putting them on a network so my daughter could use them. She has a Dell so I don't know if that would be an issue. The problem is with the HP software that comes with the Officejet and the Photosmart printer. They use HP Director which conflicts when you use more than one device that uses this software. I tried to come through the Printer Setup Utility in MAC and just designate the Photosmart as a USB printer, but I run into the same problem with the driver. If I had a different brand printer, I do not think there would be this conflict.
Would putting the computers on a network between my daughter and myself work? > From: Dan Crutcher <dcrutcher at loumag.com> > Reply-To: <macgroup at erdos.math.louisville.edu> > Date: Tue, 20 Jul 2004 10:03:35 -0400 > To: <macgroup at erdos.math.louisville.edu> > Subject: Re: MacGroup: HP Printer Problem > > Nora: > > How are your printers currently connected to your computer -- USB, > ethernet network, etc.?
