This

<http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/OSX/OS_x_swapfile_notes.html>

method worked for me on the original X.2. I'm not moving my swap any
more because I got a bigger hard drive and gave the X partition a lot
more space.

You can also free up space by moving the user and application
directories out to another partition and putting in soft links (or mess
with NetInfo). I've got my /Volumes/Users/lee/, /Applications/,
/Developer/ and /sw/ directories all linked onto a different partition.
I like doing this with the home directory because I can do a clean
install when there's a major upgrade without worrying about my data.
