Anne, I haven't had any trouble playing CDs over here that have been made by individuals and schools in Europe on PCs , and my cousin's son can play mine fine also on his PC. The trouble comes in when music companies don't want to have their CDs sold over the internet by a country which released theirs earlier and thus lose on revenue, so I am told, that they put this dodad on the CDs to not play in a different global area.
