If it can be held off until at least June, then I may be able to bring
something of possible interest to a few people. I've been in the process*
of developing a machine that will allow me to transfer the very old, tin can
shaped records - from my Grandmother's childhood (1920's) - to CD. The
components consists of erector set mechanicals and the electronics from an
old turntable. The technique for transferring consists of playing into the
Mac via the audio-in connection, which is built into my machine and I
imagine most of yours, and using QT-pro for the translation.

*The process has consisted of thinking, collecting parts and
procrastinating. If anyone has an interest in this sort of thing, I'll put
more effort into moving it forward.
