I had the same problem and found out from the Apple help desk that you always have to have the Inbox selected for mail to come in. My account and my wife's are both listed there, and MacMail checks them every hour. I just wish MacMail jumped out of the dock when it had new e-mail the way that Microsoft Entourage does.
