Thanks, Ward, Jerry ,Allan for tuning in to my half-way boot . I tried the trashing of the finder pref. first, since a few times before I got a warning that my finder had quit, although it had not disappeared. As far as I can tell you now, it seemed to have done the trick, I have been booting up fine. I did send a message to Apple, explaining that they hardly ever really, really listen, but always run you through the disk repair process, although after each crash, my computer does this autommatically, I suggested they take a lesson from our Macgroup here, who are doing a superb job. They ought to put you on their payroll. Marta
