Personally, I have a bunch of CD's burned prior to developing my file system?because I couldn't find anything?and I choose not to waste time redoing them. I used to keep my CD's in a binder, in a sleeve along with a contact sheet thumbnails. What a drag. You can set up separate users in OS X, each with their own working environment, preferences, and files. Photoshop is owned by the System and therefore uses only one set of Preferences.
