well, we went ahead and ordered the second laptop for the family this morning. I decided to go with the refurb 12" PowerBook 1.5Ghz, 80GB HD, Superdrive, etc. It was a touch choice between that and a new iBook.
Right now i'm using a 12" iBook (i love the 12" size for portability) 1.2Ghz, 60GB HD, combo-drive, etc. The extra features on the PB finally tipped the scales. The lessened airport reception, and shortened battery life were an issue, but on campus i get pretty good reception, and i tend to have a power outlet nearby. The slightly smaller size, and smaller weight, as well as the keyboard, etc. won out. I'll give the iBook to my fiance for her classes. and probably i'll update the RAM in the PB with another gig stick of RAM eventually. also, the iLife '06 that i ordered the other day should be here tomorrow, so i'm excited to try it out. should be a fun few mac weeks.... thanks for all your advice rick | The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will | be January 24 at Pitt Academy, 6010 Preston Highway. | The LCS Web page is <http://www.kymac.org>. | List posting address: <mailto:macgroup at erdos.math.louisville.edu> | List Web page: <http://erdos.math.louisville.edu/macgroup>
