Hi Ben, You need to perform an ?install and archive?.
Boot from your OS X Install Disc 1 and run through the install process. At about the fourth screen, you will see a window asking you to select your hard disk. You will notice the yellow arrow pointing to it indicating that you can?t. But look beneath it several inches and you will notice an ?options? button that you need to click. Behold, the three magic install options! Select Install and Archive and away you go. I hope your second attempt will go more smoothly than your first. I'm getting an error message now that says the extension "system/library/extensions/symfs.kext" isn't installed properly and should be reinstalled. I've tried reinstalling the second install CD, thinking the extension was there, but the error message didn't go away. when I tried reinstalling the first reinstall CD the computer said I couldn't reinstall it because I had updated the operating system. It said I could erase the hard drive and reinstall the entire operating system. Any suggestions? I'd like to avoid wiping out the hard drive if there is a way to do so.
