If the problem was cross-linked files (so that multiple files thought that they used the same blocks on the disk for themselves), my experience is that the file system was already very near on the verge of imploding. (This happened to me twice under Win 3.1, once under Mac OS X.1 and never under the old Mac OS or under OS/2.) So... it could well be that DiskWarrior ran into an irreparable problem and made it worse. While this is no defense for the drive ending up as unusable, badly damaged file systems can cause the best of programs to end up with the file system going bad.
