It gives you news headlines and a capsule summary of the story. If you 
want to read more, click on the provided story link and it opens up in 
your default browser (and yes, it is possible to make Mozilla your 
default browser in OS-X. -- just check to see that the setting sticks 
after a restart).

The reader pulls info very quickly from sites that have RSS feeds 
attached to / coming from them (many, many sites that offer news these 
days actually have RSS feeds -- more than one might guess...
