There is a good reason for hiding one's email address on the web. On my site at <http://home.insightbb.com/~aatherton/> I used to have my email address spelled out at the bottom of the main page. And I got a huge amount of spam. I later heard that there were programs (spam robots, spambots) that scanned the internet for web pages with exposed email addresses and harvested them for spammers. After Insight changed to its new ISP (ATT?) with their different servers, I read a tip about how to hide your email address by making a link to it. So I used "Email Me" and linked it to my address. Since then I have not had any spam. Maybe it was due to filters in the servers, but I like to think it was my hidden email address.
