Ok - I tried booting from the install CD, and the option key still didn't work. Sooo... I dragged the keyboard home and in the dragging, knocked whatever was in the way out of the way, because it worked fine. Still, I took apart the keyboard, and cleaned out all the scunge which had built up. Nasty. Thanks to Brian and Jeff.
