Aha, now I know. Geez, I always thought someone at the UofL had used
this for Erde ( world) with a Greek ending. there were so many German
speaking Profs and some quite odd ones at the UofL faculty before the
state took over, ( anybody remember Dr. Schlesinger with his fiim
festival ? He was the one wearing not matching socks and who did not
drive but asked anybody who came by at Shipp St. to give him a ride
home) And then Bruderius with his huge fur coat who lived somewhere up
in Bullit County, and some more at Speed and in the Math.Dept. They
were real Unikums. I thought Erdos meant the new globe encompassing
technology. -
Well, poor Mr. Erd?s had quite a colorful and sad life floating hither
and thither between Europe and the US. I would have loved to hear him
speak. Had taught himself English through books, -- not hearing the
language. A most intriguing personalty, -Lee- what was it that
fascinated you with him and what paper did you write under his
guidance? So interesting - the google references are as prolific as
was the man.
