Alas, it?s time (past time) to replace my 4-year-old iMac Desktop G4 (1GHz). My needs are fairly simple: I?m ?retired? but do freelance writing, occasional graphics, home video ?production,? etc. Not interested in PowerBook. Speed and RAM are not critical (I have a 300GB external HD). Price in $1500 range, give or take. Recommendations?
This is going to be a BIG move for me -- my present iMac was a transition from OS 9 to OS X, and I still run favorite apps in Classic. Appleworks 6.04, for example. Goodbye, Appleworks, goodbye macros, etc. And my familiar printer and scanner interfaces are bound to change. Anyone know when the next OS X upgrade will appear? Should I wait for it? In the past, I?ve somehow gotten in on the last of models, OS, etc., and spend three years trying to catch up. Of course I know the old saw about anything being obsolete by the time you take it out of the box, but this time I?d like to get in at the head of whatever?s newest at the moment. I love my present system, but it?s aging and I?d like to have a new one standing by, so I can make the transition and have time to work out the kinks (two weeks?), while this one is still running. Any advice most welcome. Nolan -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
