I find that sometimes Apple won't allow you to burn a song downloaded 
from iTunes if it says protected song. I have put  that song or songs 
into a playlist and gave it a name and then was able to burn from 
there.
I have also played it and recorded it into  my sound studio ( free 
trial) , which automatically makes it an AIFF file and put it back into 
iTunes  and then burned it.
