The shuffle would be the one to go, I would say. those bigger ones are 
heavy.  Mine feels like i am carrying a Ft. Knox gold brick around. So 
treadmill  hopping or running a bit  with a bigger ipod might impede 
the movements much more than using a shuffle -and then there are 
earphones for softening the sound, although my iPod doesn't blast into 
my ears either. -My husband being almost deaf, we do experiment around 
with sound a bit, and while hearing almost nothing, he still cannot 
tolerate a loudish sound.
