Not to be an apologist for Apple, but a lot of Web sites are removing
email support links *because* of spam. What happens is that spammers
are crawling Web sites looking for posted email addresses to add into
their catalog. Which means the support email address gets flooded with
spam and it's impossible to locate legitimate customer contact from that
flood of spammage.

So a lot of sites are moving to forms-based submissions instead of
email-based.

Not saying it's a good thing, just saying it's inevitable that direct
email-based contact is going away. My hope is that something else, like
chat-based contact, may replace it. I know some sites do use chat-based
interactive support.

Janice, in fact that is the big trouble with APPLE, period, that you
cannot e-mail them anymore. I mean you can, but get no individual answer
, and on those websites they have hundreds of pages of fiddle-di-fuddle
to read pertaining your program, but never actually addressing your
individual problem. If I live long enough and get better with my
troubled body I shall hunt Steve Jobs up personally and confront him
with that problem!!!!! I believe all Apple users ought to rise up in a
grass roots endeavor to have the personal e-mail feature re-activated. -
I am surprised you are getting Spam. I haven't gotten one piece of Spam
for over a year now. toi, toi, toi!

Marta,
I don't know how to find individual answers from .mac. I've been getting
SPAM with only .mac addresses and have a couple other questions. They
only answer me with a form email like this: Thank you for contacting
support at dotmac.apple.com.

.Mac does not provide technical support via email. If you are seeking
technical assistance with your .Mac account, see the online support
options
listed below.

Full .Mac members can access a wide range of Web-based support services
and
features, including online Help, the AppleCare Knowledge Base, and
online
discussion forums moderated by Apple and exclusively for .Mac members.
You
can review all of your support options at
http://www.mac.com/support/

Of course those sites are all major time-takers.

It's my one big gripe about .mac. Anyone have any other ways to contact
.mac support??

Hi, Janice, i am not talking about the setting in your mailbox on the
computer. I know you can manipulate all those under view. I am talking
on the mailbox on the server when you to .mac mail in what I call
cyberspace. There in the "sent" mode the view panel does not work. It is
a completely different ballgame there. And for some reason it tells me
there on "from: in the bar above the sent mail. It is obvius the mail
comes from me. It is not so obvious to whom it was sent. And I would
like to add this or replace the "from" with the "to"

Hi Marta,
Mine was already set that way but I found it could be changed under the
"View" menu. Make sure you are in the mailbox that you want to set
because the view menu changes as you change boxes.

When you are in "Sent", pull down View, Columns, and check the ones you
want shown.

Could any of you people who have a .mac account tell me whether it is
possible in the "sent messages" box on the web add a "sent to" and
perhaps eliminate the "from" ? I know when I look at that window that
all the messages shown are from me, but it is the person I sent them to
I would like to see, just like in the regular account. right now i need
to open the mail, so I can recall to whom it was sent.
