I agree that the battery would be a good guess as the source of the problem
but need to clarify battery technology and the "memory" problems that older
battery technologies pose i.e. NiCad and NiMH so that you can correctly
diagnose your potential battery problems.

Note that the current crop of Apple laptops use Lithium Ion batteries which
do not exhibit the "memory" problem.
