Receipt: [ Mail > Preferences... > General ] to set the choice of a sound alert.
As far as I know, after a msg. is read, it changes from a 'bold' font to a 'regular' font in the Inbox "Subject" pane. [ Mail > Message > Mark... ] to mark it as otherwise.
