Thanks for the background discussion.  I had no luck googling, perhaps 
because I was using poor search words.

I understand your disapproval of this when it's misused, but aren't 
there innocent uses as well?  When  I send a letter through the USPO, 
certified with return receipt requested, am I spying?  I don't think so 
... only making sure "it" got there.

This is more complicated than I need it to be.  I think I'll just 
include an html reference to an obscure little graphic on my site and 
pick up the info from the stats.
