Microsoft hasn't updated Windows Media Player for Mac in quite some time. Instead, they provide a link for a QuickTime plugin called Flip4Mac which allows WMF files to be played in QuickTime. My guess is that Microsoft has updated the Windows side of things, leaving us Mac folks behind... again.
