Lee,
Frustrated isn't quite the word, but for this forum it'll just have to
do...Since I really have no clue about the Terminal, I did try to key in
info exactly what you sent me...So I went back into the terminal to key in
the new info you sent me, and this popped up in the next line:
[Cathy-Greens-Computer:~/Desktop] cathygreen% and then I keyed in pwd, and
got the response "no such file or directory"... I'm probably doing
something basic very wrongly, but as I said, I've not got the expertise
necessary to get me out of this mess...

Welcome to Darwin!
[Cathy-Greens-Computer:~] cathygreen% pwd
/Users/cathygreen
[Cathy-Greens-Computer:~] cathygreen% cd
$HOME/Desktop[Cathy-Greens-Computer:~/Desktop] cathygreen% pwd
pwd: : No such file or directory
[Cathy-Greens-Computer:~/Desktop] cathygreen%

I don't know the order in which to key what info, where, or even how the
heck to get to the root, other than to go that other route suggested by one
of the Jerrys...ARRR!

Now that's out of my system, I am ready to tackle this issue, as I feel it's
pretty serious, since I can't see on the desktop any disks in the
drives---if you've got the time & patience to walk me through this.

Seems like just as soon as one problem gets resolved, something else needs
tweaking...

TIA,
Cathy
