Bellsouth.net does the same type of blocking. Found this out when my father in law got his iMac he is on my wireless network which is bellsouth but he had a prodigy.net email address his mail would not send had to read alot of FAQ at bellsouth to find out about setting the outgoing mail to bellsouth.net work's great now. I was traveling last weekend and the hotel had a note in the room about setting the outgoing mail sever to their internet provider sever. This is done to help fight against spam bots.
