Forgot to mention, and I may be the only person on the planet that didn't know this.
After installing the DVD in my attempt to boot from it, I was then stuck with no way to remove from a dead machine. The Apple tech. said to hold down the track pad key while booting, and sure enough this ejected the DVD ahhhhhh, knowledge is power!
