Mark,
Here's my opinion on the subject... I have the 20" dual core iMac and
I've configured it to run XP and OS-X using BootCamp. The reason I
didn't use Parallels is that the graphics performance on Parallels
suffers a bit compared to XP running with BootCamp. The drawback is
that you do have to reboot to use XP. So if you aren't planning to play
games or use graphics intensive PC apps Parallels is probably OK but if
you want the most out of your graphics chip BootCamp is the better
approach. There are a few sites on the net that compare Parallels
performance to the BootCamp approach but unfortunately I didn't save
any of the URLs. One other thing to note is that you have to manually
reset the XP clock once you reboot to run XP when using BootCamp. It's
kind of a pain.. but other than that I really like the setup. I use my
iMac for music production and video work so being able to run PC and
Mac apps at maximum warp has been great! I'm starting to see more of my
friends transition from PCs to Macs now that the Intel hardware is out
there! After seeing the Vista OS pricing I think more people will be
making the transition.

One other note, the ATI drivers for XP let you switch between Direct X
and OpenGL so you can really fine tune the graphics performance. In
general I find that I'm getting better over-all performance using XP
with the OpenGL drivers. That's pretty application dependent but I
encourage you to experiment a bit once you get your machine. Be sure to
set up your firewall and install virus tools on the XP side too. Enjoy
your new machine, I love mine....
