journalist write and verifiy fact, columnist express opinion. columnist are not to be confused with journalist, though a journalist might write for a column. the mere fact of being published in a newspaper does not automatically assign journalistic credential. it's the editor who makes the final call to run it, in this case most likely something unread to fill column space with no exposure to libel. this writer sounds as yet another columnist, however annoying his juvenile grasp for the concept of diversity may be. at the end of the day a weenie is just a weenie, not a journalist. best...jf
