i've not read any documentation as to specifically what migration assistant transfers. you can direct migrate assistant to only import your home folder, but that's where most of the junk resides. i will migrate libraries and reset preferences by hand. i did a clean install on a zeroed disk for tiger with everything installed manually and had zero problems since. best...jf
