While you don't have HD right now that will be changing fast with the
Digital TV transition.
I have a standard series 2 TiVo and I hope to be getting one of the new
HD TiVo's in the near future. Even if you are only recording SD
(standard def)TV you will able to keep more shows on the TiVo hard drive
as SD takes up less space. The subscriptions can be transferred to a new
unit at the time of purchase. More hard drive space is always good with
video the new HD TiVo's allow you to also add a hard drive by plugging
it in the back of the unit.

Subject: Re: [MacGroup] Tivo vs. Apple TV

Hi, all,

Thanks a million for all the great info! It sounds like Tivo is the
way to go for us, rather than Insight's DVR or Apple TV. Now I just
have to decide which box to buy: $150 vs. $300 ordered from Tivo.
Will the less expensive box be obsolete sooner? We don't have an HD
TV at this point, but no doubt will have to get one down the road.
And if I go with the lifetime subscription, will it not last as long
with the $150 box? Questions, questions ...

Thanks again,

Wendi
