I was out and about with my iPod touch today. I was able to connect to an "unsecured" wireless network, ie, there was no lock associated with the network. The wireless connection was strong, it showed multiple bars, yet when I tried to check email or open up a web page I received a message saying unable to connect to mail host or, in the case of safari, I was told Safari was not connected to the internet.
I'm at home now and connected to my home wireless network and, at least in the case of Safari, I am able to connect to the internet. Any clues as to why I couldn't connect while out and about?
