But Lee, after making this rash statement about my life line, I do
need you to tell me WHY you do not want an iPhone. There needs to be
a deeper reason than just being contrary like little Mary?

A lot of what you can access is determined by the programming from
the carrier. For example, My Motorola on Verizon is made completely
brain dead by Verizon. They want me to use their network to transfer
pictures to my computer and only want their ringtones on the phone.
Both capabilities cost money, of course. When I first got the phone,
I couldn't get it to do anything over Bluetooth and only a few
things after much effort via direct USB.
After seaching the Web, I found the keys to break into Verizon's
firmware and was able to transfer pictures via Bluetooth. A year or
so ago I got DataPilot and opened it up all the way.
By the way, Harry, DataPilot supports several of the Katana models.
Go to the list of supported phones and search on "Katana."
My contract is up early next month and I'm looking to switch
carriers. Damn, I hate these companies because they don't have any
prices on their Web sites and won't tell you anything over the
phone. (And... no... I do not want an iPhone!)
