that has been my concern all along. Retrospect is very flexible, can't
wait to get my hands on the new version

Thanks Andy, this sounds like the best way to go, finally someone
does it right. Who wants to turn over a drive for repair that is a
wide open book?!!

Retrospect 8 was just released last night. I have used Retrospect
for years and it does encrypt the backups sets (at least previous
versions did and I assume version 8 will as well). I am just about
to start reading the details:
Retrospect 8.0 for Macintosh has been released and is available for
immediate upgrade from the Retrospect.com website.
The total list of new features and changes are too long for a simple

All the preparation in the world and then you hand them your
entire world!!!!
The reviews on the G-Technology firewire drives was impressive and
with a 3 yr. warraranty I decided to go ahead and move my backup
protection to these drives. I had purchased three of them.
Within 1 month one of them would no longer work. (of course) I
had a choice, let several hundred go out the window or send in the
drive for them to repair. This means that EVERYTHING about my
life I have on my machine is now in the hands of someone I have no
idea about their honesty, if nothing else it is none of their
business where I spend my money, what my credit card numbers are,
all my music, family photo's, wills of all types, estates I have
settled, SS numbers, Quicken, Morgan Stanley, National City....on
and on I could go.
The very thing I was trying to prevent I willingly handed over to
another person(s).
Is there ANY way using TimeMachine, Apple's Backup, or SuperDuper
to encrypt the backup? I never want to do this again and I may
be safe with this but then again I may not be, or it may come back
to haunt me years down the road.
If none of these backups will encrypt will the forthcoming
Retrospect 8 for the Mac?
Need your suggestions.
John
