Hi Bill. If this is a Sandisk Cruzer flashdrive, you need the Macintosh (or Windows) removal tool and info at URL:
It doesn't appear to be a Sandisk---it is has no sign of a brand on it anywhere. If I recall, it is a swing drive, like this, but without all the writing on the swing arm.

I'm not sure it is a second partition. Unless someone has seen differently, separate partitions show up under the same device in both the terminal window and Disk Utility. Maybe there is a way of faking two physical devices other than partitioning, but which also goes by the name of partitioning?
I would imagine that you could remove the partitions (and reformat the flashdrive) with Gnome Partition Manager or a similar utility under Ubuntu Linux.
I might give that a try when I have a chance to install a version of Ubuntu supported by Parallels.
Failing that, get a copy of Paragon Disk Backup (demo) or Paragon Partition Manager (Windows or standalone utilities) and use that to nuke the flashdrive. I particularly like Paragon Disk Manager as it can create a standalone bootable CD or flashdrive that will copy (and nuke) ANY kind of multi-partition disk (including Macintosh HFS +) that you can throw at it!
