Hi bill:
After an hour I finally got to an airport supervisor. He says Apple
engineers are hard at work on a hardware fix for our problems and to
check for updates in airport utilities. He got mine working as long
as I use only one account. Not what i expected from apple.

Every time I try to get to one of the private networks, I get a
Connetion timeout (-3905 timeout connecting) error. I've tried
changing passwords, changing the name of the network, changing the
type of password, rebooting the computers, rebooting the airport
extreme. Nada. No connections.
Perhaps I am completely missing the point of the private network,
and hence am doing some sort of setup incorrectly. The manual is of
zero help.
Googling has not brought up anything useful---only other people
having problems, but without any solutions.
Perhaps this is (one of many) problems with Snow Leopard. [Another
fine feature: Mail in SL suddenly forgetting all the passwords to
all of my email accounts, even though the passwords are in the
Keychain. The rest of the problems have to do with 32-bit vs. 64-bit
and use of outside software---not really a SL problem per se, but
something that will make me revert to Leopard when close to my
offsite backup.]
