I'm not the best one recommend for your purposes, for I have never owned a laptop - my only computer is a desktop. So I don't currently have any synchronization needs as such (except with iPods and iPhones) and don't really know anything about that subject. I was just chiming in on the one small subject of Firewire attributes. And now I hear that Thunderbolt will soon be replacing Firewire as the data transfer connection of the future.

Then what back-up fire wire drive would you recommend for a lap top to use Super Duper on, and have access to Target Disk Mode????

I forgot about that. The only PPC Mac we have left is the eMac in the kitchen and I don't back it up. I know there was a reason I used to pay the premium for firewire even when I was just using the drive for backup and didn't really "need" the extra speed...

USB will work fine for Super Duper. I use them all the time. Firewire will just work faster.

Also, older PowerPC Macs can’t boot off USB drives.
