My son attends an online charter school -- Connections Academy. He
connects using his ipod, ipad or Mac -- sometimes using the Apple TV. If
he's at the library or at a friends' he can still do schoolwork! LOL All
his textbooks are online although he does have hardback at home as well.
His classes, English, Algebra, Social Studies, etc. meet once or twice a
week in a virtual classroom with a teacher. It's interesting how it works.
but I will say this... his work has improved, he's far more interested, the
curriculum is TOUGH and the help/support is far more than he ever got in
school -- public or private. DOWNSIDE is socialization. Although he has a
core group of friends he "hangs" with -- it's more difficult because they
don't understand online education. Not that they talk about school -- mind
you! Sports, music, drama , etc. he can still participate in at any
private or public school. Private's will charge -- public hasn't -- yet.

I know St. X supplies Ipads to all their students -- i think we will see
more schools doing this in the near future.
