Matt,

Welcome, I hope your new found computer becomes one you can't live without.   
Over the years I have moved dozens of folks and not a single one has returned 
nor do they have any desire.

I use Handbrake on a MacPro and it works flawlessly, however it also has to 
have VLC to work.

Maybe in the Windows world Handbrake did it all but on my first install and 
boot I was directed to the VLC website and in unison they do the job well.   

Hopefully some of the more informed folks will be able to shed more light than 
I can.
