I have my networking stuff on an additional backup battery anyway, but that is interesting. I have Insight's box still, of course, so it still has its massive internal battery, but I have never had to test it. We've been lucky that our power has almost never gone out. Half of Louisville could be without power and ours is still humming along. The only times it has ever gone out were apparently not weather related, and then only for less than an hour. I had an LG&E guy tell me one time that we were just lucky that there were few trees by the lines between our house and the substation. ::-) I will have to say, though, that my speed INCREASED when TWC took over. I have a third-party service that sends me a monthly report of my speeds (with charts and everything!). I had been real happy with Insight since I upgraded to their 30.0 service. I was getting a full 30 mbps download and a very consistent 3.0 mbps upload. (It is normal for residential service to be a lot faster down than up.) Well, along about June 9 my upload went from 3 mbps to about 4.8 mbps, a very significant jump in the spec that I use for accessing of my network when I am away, and screen sharing with my clients. I wonder about the speed that the people paying a kings ransom every month for their 50.0/5.0 service are getting. Let us know what the city says about the 911 service, James.
