Actually, I wasn't really all that unhappy with Mavericks; I was unhappy with the downgraded programs that accompanied it. They've been upgrading the iWorks programs at a fast and furious pace, and I'm reasonably satisfied with them now. The biggest problem for me has been Mail. I've switched over to Thunderbird for mail on my Mavericks machines. Occasionally I'll try Apple's Mail to see if the problems are still there. I can't really think of a good reason not to upgrade to Mavericks — especially if you have a laptop, because the power management is noticeably better.
