Oh, I do use Calibre on Linux and Mac to keep track of my ebooks. It’s a pretty
good program. The problem I have is finding a good audiobook player for the
iPhone.

My problem is that I listen to a lot of audiobooks. I store them as m4b files.
Up until the most recent iOS update, the Music app was an adequate player. They
ripped this functionality out of Music and sort of put it into iBooks. But the
player in iBooks is fubar.

A decent audiobook player should do at least the following.

• Remember where you left off listening.
• Mark chapters as read.
• Allow variable playback speed. I usually listen at 2x speed.
• Make it easy to scrub through a chapter.
• Easily move from chapter to chapter.
• Allow more than one book in its library at a time.
• Add and remove books without jumping through flaming hoops.
• Recognize the Apple standard remote controls for volume and stop/start. I
usually listen through Bluetooth headphones and don’t want to take the phone
from my pocket to do the usual things.
