Not to mention that Uber's business model is to break a law, settle up once 
they've become established, break some other laws, negotiate a fine which is 
less than the money they've made, etc. This isn't to say that their service is 
bad or that they shouldn't exist, but if companies were people, Uber would have 
been in jail. I don't know much about Lyft in this respect.

They've also made the term 'surge pricing' a respectable term. The old name for 
this was 'gouging'.
