Hi Anne,
Just FYI, I have an older iMac (20", mid 2007, running OSX 10.5
Yosemite) and had hoped to be able to attach it to my newer MacBook Pro
and use it as another screen, but no can do. The two won't connect.
Later iMacs will, however. Of course, I can still connect it via the
Internet, but that's not quite the same.
Second, I needed to upgrade my 17" MacBook Pro, so I could have more
than 8 GB of memory, so I bought a 15" mid 2015, running OS X 12.3 with
16 GB memory. What I didn't realize is that I could have bought a used
upgraded 17" MacBook Pro and not given up the screen real estate.
Here's a used on on eBay:

Another one:

eBay routinely has used 17" MacBook Pros that are upgraded. I know you
are tight for time, so another solution might be better.
Good luck. Hope this helps,
Jane

I have a 2008 MacBook Pro (17”) that just decided to die the death of what some call

Need to replace it. I use it primarily for offsite presentations/usage.
Unfortunately I have one this Friday and another next Friday.
Hadn’t been looking into what to buy to replace it. Realized I have much ned to
replace some of my Apple hardware this year but just haven’t had the time to
research what was available and would be the best.
Since I was last buying Apple computers, a lot of new renditions have come
along. I usually prepare my presentations on my iMac (which is probably living
on borrowed time) so really looking for something to use basically to download
programs from iMac, hook up to a projector and present.
What would you suggest I ask about when I go to the Apple store tomorrow?
