I get many PDF documents by email that I must mark up and send back to the source. My idea was to do this with an iPad and the Apple Pencil.
This works okay for short documents into which I only put small marginal notes. For that, the default Apple Quick Look works pretty well. It works really well for doing handwriting with the Apple Pencil. Longer documents, or those for which I must write longer comments, are a problem. Usually I want to append a blank page to contain the longer comments. I don’t think there’s a way to append a page to a Quick Look document, so I’ve been using PDF Pen when I need the extra page. I’ve found PDF Pen to be at best quirky with Apple Pencil input and downright broken at times because it freezes up. I’ve also tried editing on the Mac and doing Apple Pencil input via Sidecar. This also kind of works, but again it’s quirky with handwriting—especially if I write quickly. There are dozens of PDF editors for the iPad. I don’t know if any of them do what I want. Any suggestions?
