Sorry about that, I've been playing with my SoC+FPGA boards too much
(they actually have GigE).

The BBB and RPi are limited to 100 MBit/s (max) and _still_ often
can't run at wire speed.  The bandwidth limit isn't really a big
problem, but you really want your machine control interface on a
dedicated low-latency network link, which means two Ethernet ports
minimum (one for machine control to the 7i92 and one for general
purpose networking).
