        I suspect you're mixing kilobytes and kilobits?  Eight bits per
byte, or

        15kilobytes/sec = 120kilobits/sec

Many applications report transfer speeds in kilobytes/second.  Connectivity
speeds are most often quoted in kilobits/second.
